Biography

From 1939 to 1942 he studied at evening school. After graduation, he entered the Kolomyia Architectural College, which he graduated in 1944. In 1941, he joined the youth organization of the OUN . C October 20, 1943 in the UPA. He graduated from the command school in 1944, platoon commander. Under the New Year of 1945 he participated in the battle in the area of ​​s. Kosmach, where a hundred UPA surrounded a battalion of Soviet border troops, and at the end of the battle he took command of a hundred from a wounded centurion. In the winter of 1945, with his hundred, he ambushed an NKVD regiment from an ambush, and was wounded in battle.

At the end of 1948 he was captured, in 1949 he was sentenced by the Ivano-Frankivsk military tribunal to 25 years of camps. He served his term in Kolyma. In 1953, for the "organization of a nationalist group", all participants were given 10 years each. In 1956, it was decided to absorb the remainder of the first term by the second (1953-1963). In 1963 he was released, but in 1968 he was again arrested for "newly discovered circumstances." The decision of 1956 to reduce the term was canceled, and Simchich was sent to serve his sentence by a sentence of 1949. Before his release in 1982, he received a new term of 2.5 years "for libel on the Soviet social and political system." He was released in 1985, having been imprisoned for a total of 32 years, 6 months and 3 days.

On January 5, 2008, he was erected a lifetime 3-meter monument in Kolomyia, where he lives. Simchich attended the opening, accompanied by two children and five grandchildren. In 2009, a film was shot about an episode from the life of Miroslav - “The War of Miroslav Simchich” (director Alexander Ryabokrys ) [1] .

Rewards
