Hangalas Ulus ( Yakut. Khagalas Uluuha ) is an administrative-territorial unit ( ulus or district ) and a municipality ( municipal district ) in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) of the Russian Federation .

Content
Geography
The area of the district is 24.7 thousand km². It borders in the east with Megino-Kangalassky ulus , in the south with Amginsky and Aldan regions, in the southwest with Olekminsky district , in the north with Gorny ulus and the city district of Yakutsk .
Natural conditions
The ulus is located on the Prilensky plateau and in the Lena valley, in which almost all the settlements of the ulus are located. On the left bank of the Lena River is the Erkani Valley.
Other major rivers: Sinaya , Keteme , Kenkem , Buotama , Luteng , Menda , etc.
The climate is sharply continental. The average January temperature is −40 ° C, July +19 ° C. Precipitation falls annually from 200 mm to 350 mm.
History
The name "Khangalassky" is reflected in documents from 1632 , that is, from the time of the arrival of Russian Cossacks in Yakutia. In 1860, the vast Khangalassky ulus was divided into two uluses - West Kangalassky and East Kangalassky. Within the current borders, the ulus was formed on February 10, 1930 , it was given the name West Kangalassky , in 1937 it was renamed Ordzhonikidzevsky , in honor of Sergo Ordzhonikidze, who was serving his exile here. The original name was returned in 1992 .

According to the 2002 census : Yakuts - 20,955 people (59.53%), Russians - 11,745 people (33.37%), Ukrainians - 497 people (1.41%), Evenks - 370 people (1.05%), Evens - 234 people (0.66%) and other nationalities - 1400 people (3.98%).

On May 13, 2000 the village of Kytanakh Kirdal was renamed into the village of Toyon-Ary [16]
Economics
46% of the total volume of manufactured products are construction materials, 45% - agricultural products, 5% - food processing products, 3% - jewelry manufacturing [17] .
The main production in agriculture is meat and dairy cattle breeding , meat herd horse breeding , animal husbandry , grain farming , and potato farming .
Transport
The federal highway A360 Lena passes through the territory of the ulus. Asphalted highway "Yakutsk-Pokrovsk-Bulgunnyakht". Ferry service Mohsogollokh-Kachikattsi.
The construction of the section of the Amur-Yakutsk railway “Tommot-Kördem” (a village on the right bank of the Lena) was completed, which was commissioned on September 25, 2010.

Protected Areas
Lena Pillars
On the territory of the ulus is located the national natural park "Lena Pillars" , on the right bank of the Lena and on the left in the lower reaches of the Siney River. The park has unique geological formations - pillars - steep, completely sheer cliffs, composed of Cambrian limestones. The length of the pillars along the Lena coast is about 80 km.
Deering Yuryakh
At the Diring-Yuryakh stream (Glubokaya small river), which flows into the Lena, Yu. A. Mochanov and S. A. Fedoseeva discovered stone tools 260–370 thousand years old [18] . Ya. S. Kuzmin, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, relates the finds of Deering culture to the period from 125 to 10 thousand years ago [19] .

- Germogenov, George Ustinovich (Yakut. Ergis ) - the pioneer of Yakut folklore.
- Ksenofontov, Gavriil Vasilievich - social and political activist, the first Yakut scholar - ethnographer, folklorist, religious scholar.
- Ksenofontov, Pavel Vasilievich - head of the anti-Bolshevik movement in Yakutia in 1927 - 1928.
- Nikolaev, Mikhail Efimovich - the first President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) (1991-2002)
- Syranov, Sofron - great-great-grandson of Tygyn Darkhan , an influential toyon of the 18th century, the prince of Kangalassky ulus.
- Kharitonov, Pavel Nikolaevich (Yakut. Oyuku ) - a famous Yakut poet, writer and critic.
