Biography

Born into a peasant family. His father worked in a cardboard factory, and his mother in a hosiery factory.

He graduated in 1897 from the Synodal School of Church Singing , in 1907, from the Music and Drama School of the Moscow Philharmonic Society. In 1901-1918 he taught at the Synodal School, in 1898-1903 at the same time in urban schools on Nikoloyamskaya Street and Leontief Lane , at the Institute of Noble Maidens named after Emperor Alexander III (choral singing).

Since January 1, 1907 - Senior Assistant Regent; since February 10, 1910 - acting regent; from April 8, 1910 - the chief regent of the Synodal Choir , approved in office, (until 1918); held the premieres of the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom (November 25, 1910) and the All-Night Vigil of S.V. Rachmaninov (March 10, 1915). In 1911 he conducted a tour of the Synodal Choir in Europe (Warsaw, Rome, Florence, Vienna, Dresden). In 1912, a choir led by Danilin participated in the consecration of the Russian Orthodox Church in the name of St. Nicholas in Nice , and in 1913 - the Russian Orthodox church monument in Leipzig .

Since 1915, he directed the private spiritual choir of Moscow, created by the philanthropist A.P. Kayatov (he sang in various churches of the city, including in 1915-1918 in the church of the Rev. Pimen in Old Vorotniki in Staropimenovsky Lane ). Under the direction of Danilin, the choir sang at the last service in the Assumption Cathedral of the Kremlin before its closure (April 1918).

In 1917 he participated in the intronization of Patriarch Tikhon in the Assumption Cathedral of the Kremlin. After 1917, Mr .. was regent in several Moscow churches, including in churches: St. Nicholas the Wonderworker "Appearing" on Arbat , Paraskeva Pyatnitsa in Okhotny Ryad , St. George Church on Bolshaya Gruzinskaya Street , Tryphon Church in Naprudny . In 1928 he was forced to stop his regency.

The author of spiritual compositions. Until 1923, Danilin worked at the People's Choir Academy (into which the Synodal School was transformed in 1918), in 1923-1924. - Choirmaster of the Bolshoi Theater . Since 1923 he taught at the Moscow Conservatory (professor since 1930), since 1924 - choirmaster of the Opera Studio at the Conservatory.

Among the students are Moscow choirmaster K. B. Ptitsa , A. V. Rybnov , V. P. Stepanov , A. S. Stepanov, G. A. Dmitrevsky , composer D. N. Shvedov .

From May 20, 1936 to March 10, 1937, he was the artistic director of the Leningrad State Academic Chapel , and from 1937-1939, he was the artistic director and chief conductor of the USSR State Choir .

He lived in a building for teachers at the Synodal School on Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street . He was buried in Moscow at the Vagankovsky cemetery .
