History
It was formed in accordance with Article 22 of the Constitution of the USSR adopted by the VIII Extraordinary Congress of Soviets of the USSR on December 5, 1936 , in the territory of the abolished Northern Territory , together with the Komi ASSR .
Administratively, the region was divided into 54 districts, including three districts of the Nenets National District - Kaninsko-Timan District , Nenets District , and Nizhne-Pechora District .
September 23, 1937 the decree of the CEC of the USSR "On the division of the Northern region into the Vologda and Arkhangelsk regions" the region was abolished. On January 15, 1938, the Supreme Soviet of the USSR approved the creation of the Vologda and Arkhangelsk regions [1] .
The city of Vologda and 23 districts were allocated to the structure of the Vologda Oblast : Chebsarsky , Gryazovetsky , Kubino-Ozersky , Sokolsky , Biryakovsky , Totemsky , Syamzhensky , Verkhovazhsky , Tarnogsky , Ust-Kubinsky , Veliky Ustyugsky , Mezhdurechensky , Nyuksensky , Roslyatinsky , Ledesky , , Harovsky , Vozhegodsky , Kichmengo-Gorodetsky , Nikolsky , Ust-Alekseevsky , Pavinsky , Vokhomsky .
The city of Arkhangelsk, the Nenets National District, Verkhnetoyemsky District , Yemetsky District , Konoshsky District , Kholmogorsky District and other regions of the Northern Region were transferred to the structure of the Arkhangelsk Region being created.
