Kichmaisky rural district is an administrative-territorial unit in the Lazarevsky district of the city of Sochi (the municipality of the resort town of Sochi ) in the Krasnodar Territory .

It unites the territories and settlements of the district, located outside the city limits in the middle reaches of the Shah River, as well as the Chukhukt , Chemitokvadzhe and Godlikh rivers.
The administrative center is the village of Bolshoi Kichmay .

Geography
The administrative-territorial unit is located in the central part of the Lazarevsky district of the resort city of Sochi .
The rural district consists of five settlements [3] . The rural district is the third largest area, the administrative unit of the Lazarevsky district .
It borders on the lands of the administrative-territorial units: the Kirov rural district in the northwest, the Solokhaulsky rural district in the east, the Verkhneloosky rural district in the southeast, as well as the urban micro-districts of Sochi in the west. In the east, the okrug’s land is bounded by the Main Caucasian Range.
The rural district is located in the foothills and mountains of Greater Sochi. The terrain is mostly mountainous terrain with dense forest cover, towering from west to east. Average altitudes are about 845 meters above sea level. The highest point on the territory of the rural district is Mount Outl (1855.7) [4] on the border with the Solokhaulsky rural district .
The hydrographic network is represented by the basins of the rivers Shahe , Chukhukt , Chemitokvadzhe , Godlikh and their numerous tributaries. In addition, many rivers originating from coastal ranges, carry their waters directly to the Black Sea . The area is also rich in fresh and various mineral springs.
The climate in the district is mostly subtropical, and is characterized by warm summers and cool, little snowy winters. With distance from the sea, the continental climate rises. The average annual air temperature is about + 14.5 ° C and ranges from average + 5.5 ° C in January to + 23.5 ° C in July. The average rainfall per year is about 1400 mm. Depending on the northern slope of the Main Caucasian Range , on the southern slope the main amount of precipitation falls in the winter.
History
After the abolition of the Lazarevsky District of the Krasnodar Territory on February 10, 1961, by the decision of the CEC of April 7, 1961, the Kichmay Village Council was reassigned to the Lazarevsky District of Sochi [5] . The village council included auls located in the middle reaches of the Shah River, as well as villages located in the valleys of the Chukhukt, Chemitokvadzhe and Godlikh rivers. The valley of the Hajuko River (the largest tributary of the Psezuapse River ) was also included in the composition of the rural village council.
From December 7, 1962 to December 30, 1964, the Kichmay Village Council was registered as part of the Tuapse District [5] . Then returned to submission to the Lazarevsky district of Sochi [5] .
In 1992, the Kichmay Village Council was reorganized and transformed into the Kichmai Village District.
The modern borders of the Kichmay rural district are established in accordance with the law of 1995 .

Economics
The main role in the economy of the rural district is played by agriculture and tourism.
There are many horticultural farms growing various subtropical fruit crops in the rural district. Viticulture and beekeeping were also greatly developed. Tea plantations are laid out in the Shah River Valley.
In the field of tourism, various tourist routes leading from the coast to the Main Caucasian Range were most developed. In the upper reaches of the rivers there are various waterfalls and rapids, attracting the attention of tourists.
Frequently visited objects also include preserved ancient dolmens and ethnographic museums located in Circassian villages.
