Breakcore Story

The style originated in 1993 - 1994 . In Berlin and Cologne, DJ Bass Terror Crew put heavier versions of breakbeat records at their parties, which was achieved by playing vinyl discs at 45 rpm instead of 33. At the same time, Tanith hardcore techno DJ organized a series of parties called “ Breakcore, ”it was this word that appeared on the flyer .

Sound and party

At the same time, many hardcore musicians began to adopt the ideas of 90s jungle music and acid house , which was another step forward for the whole direction. Broken rhythms ( break break beats ; especially amen-break ) were often included in music, and the sound of drums and bass went back to the concept of hardcore and industrial music.

It is worth mentioning that over time the breakcore got rid of the influence of the rave movement and a greater number of its fans were not adherents of techno or house culture, many came to the breakcore scene from IDM , noise and even grindcore parties. And it was thanks to such a motley party and a sharp drop in computer prices that break-sounding appeared in all its glory. It is worth mentioning that most of the mid-90s breakcore tracks were made on very cheap computers with pirated software .

Places

Speaking about the formation of the scene, it is difficult to allocate any special place, breakcore firmly established in Berlin , South London , Newcastle and the whole of New South Wales ( Australia ), Rennes ( France ), Ghent ( Belgium ), in the Midwestern United States , including Milwaukee ( Wisconsin ) and Minneapolis ( Minnesota ), in New Jersey , as well as in Canada ( Winnipeg and the entire province of Manitoba , most of New Brunswick ). In Russia, breakcore events have remained in a niche underground environment.
