Indian macaques , or macaques bonnet [1] ( lat. Macaca radiata ) is one of the species of macaques .

Habitats of the species - the mountain tropical forests of India , sometimes go to the cities . The length of the adult bonnet body reaches 40-60 cm , the tail - up to 70 cm in males and up to 55 cm in females . In addition to the ears and muzzle , the body is covered with thick gray wool , there are cheek pouches [2] . The weight of males is about 7-8 kg , females - 4-5 kg. They live in groups of up to 80 individuals, the duration of life reaches 15-20 years , in captivity - up to 30. They live a day life, they spend time on trees , but often descend to the ground.
The Indian Macaque feeds on seeds , nuts , fruits , and invertebrates .
Sometimes there are two subspecies : Macaca radiata radiata and Macaca radiata diluta .
