History
The idea of recording "All Brothers" belongs to Boris Grebenshchikov. On June 12, 1978, he had a daughter, Alice , and on the occasion of this event, it was decided to arrange a recording of the album.
The material by Grebenshchikov, included in this album, is qualitatively different from the three previous recordings - “The Temptation ”, “ Proverbs ” and “ From the Other Side ”. The sound due to the quality of the recording equipment, microphone and space turned out to be quite unusual.
Our friend Olga Aksyanova studied at the university with Liverpool (Alexey Rodimtsev) and lived in a janitor right in the building of the Smolny Institute of Noble Maidens. Olga's apartment was wonderful, right from the entrance to the Neva - she lived there with her husband, who worked as a janitor, while also studying at the university. On the cover of the album “All brothers - sisters” Boris and Mike stand in a certain arch. This was exactly the entrance to the short tunnel, which ended in a door to the Aksyanova apartment. The surroundings were excellent there.... In the clearing between the Neva and Smolny , which cut us off from the city noise, they put a microphone - like a box on a stand - and recorded all the songs once. It was clear to everyone, even when we had no idea about the sound recording, that recording a high-quality group play on one microphone is unrealistic. Therefore, initially they approached the recording as if they were songs in a glade.

The first edition of the album was only 10 copies (that is how many sets of cover photos were printed by Andrey “Willi” Usov. This was his first experience in designing the covers of “ Aquarium ” albums) and was given off to friends.

Criticism
According to music critic Alexander Morsin, “All the Brothers-Sisters” is “the first album in the history of Russian rock. It is the album - in its classical sense as an art object and consumer product, which takes into account the unity of the carrier, design and advertising ” [4] .
Creation Facts
- In the photo from the original cover, Boris Grebenshchikov stands with a book by Bob Dylan , and Mike with a bottle of dry . In this case, all the photos for the album cover created impromptu. On the front side, Boris and Mike are shot against the sunset sky. Mike is wearing the cap of Andrei "Willie" Usov , and between Boris and Mike - a statuette of Buddha , borrowed from Andrei Falaleev.
- “ Apparatchik ” Marat recalled that it was not he who was in charge of the apparatus, but “everything, everything, everything”, Mike installed microphones, and his task was to drive away barking dogs and coughing spectators.
- The song "Woman" is a variation of Bob Dylan's song " Sad Lady of the Lowlands ".
- In addition to Bob Dylan, the original Chinese treatise " Chuang Tzu " served as a source of images for the album.
- Almost all the songs from this album were released on the next albums of “Aquarium” and “Zoo” (the only exceptions are “King of the subconscious” and “Daughter”).
- Grebenshchikov's song “Daughter” was written in connection with the birth of his daughter Alice .
