In the text, you can notice religious overtones, however, according to Black Francis himself , the song “contains a hint of animism , maybe reincarnation .” According to Black, “I was focused on caribou hunting. It was very nice to play this song - very loud, with a wonderful triple rhythm ” [1] . The song begins with a long guitar introduction (it was borrowed in one of the songs by Tequilajazzz [2] ). “Caribou” is built on two repeating (in rhythm guitar and bass parts) chords; there are two verses that are sung by two voices Black Francis and Kim Deal , and during solo losses Black hysterically shouts “Repent!”.
