Mamoru Hosea was born in Tokyo on August 8, 1951 . Mamoru is the youngest of the three children of the Hosea family. In childhood, he was often taken to the cinema - every weekend, and sometimes in the middle of the work week [4] . At school, Mamoru was fond of science fiction and planned to become a science fiction writer. He corresponded with the famous Japanese writer Ryu Mitsuse , read a lot of foreign fiction [4] .

In high school, Mamoru became interested in politics and the protest movement, participated in demonstrations. In 1980, he moved to Studio Pierrot , where he continued to study the profession of director under the leadership of Hisayuki Torumi. Together they worked on the anime series Nils no Fushigi na Tabi , the OVA series Dallos .
