Edward Armas Jarnefelt ( Swede: Edvard Armas Järnefelt ; August 14, 1869 , Vyborg , Finland - June 23, 1958 , Stockholm , Sweden ) - Finnish composer and conductor.

The son of General Augustus Alexander (Alexander Gustavovich) Yarnefelt and his wife Elizabeth Konstantinovna, nee Klodt von Jurgensburg , niece of the sculptor Peter Klodt ; his eight brothers and sisters include writer Arvid Järnefelt , artist Ero Järnefelt and Aino Sibelius, wife of Jan Sibelius . He was married to singer Mickey Yarnefelt .
Yarnefelt studied with Ferruccio Busoni during the Helsinki period of his life, then in Berlin with Albert Becker ( 1890 - 1893 ) and in Paris with Jules Massenet ( 1893 - 1894 ). In 1898 - 1903 conductor of the orchestra of the Vyborg Music Society, in 1904 - 1907 opera conductor of the National Theater of Finland, simultaneously in 1906 - 1907 Director of the Helsinki Institute of Music. Since 1907 , mainly in Sweden, in 1909 received Swedish citizenship. He was a conductor, and since 1923 , the chief conductor of the Stockholm Opera . In 1932 - 1936 Director of the Finnish Opera , in 1942 - 1943 headed the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra .
Yarnefelt was considered one of the main propagandists of Richard Wagner's work in the northern countries. In 1904 , he carried out his first Wagnerian production in Finland (“ Tannhauser ”), later on he put a lot of Wagner in Stockholm.
