Biography
Born in the Southern Urals in the family of a priest. When he was eight years old, his parents moved to Bashkiria . He graduated from the Higher state courses in art history at the Leningrad Institute of the History of Art (1930).
He worked in the Zlatoust newspaper "Proletarian Thought" [1] [2] .
The author of many essays on the workdays of the city , which are included in the books: “Komsomol Axes” (1930), “Zlatoust” (1932) [1] .
He began his literary activity with essays, was noticed by Maxim Gorky and attracted to cooperation in the journalistic journal Our Achievements.
Member of the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-1940 as a Red Army soldier of the 181st Infantry Regiment.
Member of the Great Patriotic War since January 1942 as a platoon commander of the 119th Infantry Regiment of the 13th Infantry Division . Participated in the defense of Leningrad. Since June 1942 - journalist of front-line newspapers. He participated in the lifting of the siege of Leningrad. He finished the war with the rank of captain.
He is the author of several books of prose (“The Heart of the Winner”, “War Stone”, “Chronicle”, “Temporary”, etc.), travel essays.

Interesting fact.
In 1983, a twelve-volume anthology of literary works about the Great Patriotic War “Wreath of Glory” was published. The third volume, devoted to the heroic defense of Leningrad, includes Vasilevsky’s short story “Blow in the Night” from the story “The Military Bone”. The story takes place in August 1942, 32 kilometers north of Leningrad . The main character is sniper sergeant Romantsov. His prototype was a fellow soldier Vitaly Vasilevsky - Akhat Akhmetyanov , a teacher from Bashkiria, one of the best snipers of the Leningrad Front. [3]
