New Yankul is a village [2] in the Andropovsky district of the Stavropol Territory of Russia , the administrative center of the rural settlement Novoyankulsky Village Council [3] .

Geographical position
The village is located in the basin of the Bolshoy Yankul River (a tributary of Kalaus ), in the steppe zone of the Stavropol Upland .
Distance to the regional center : 52 km.
Distance to the district center : 36 km.
History
The village of New Yankul was founded in June 1920 on the lands of former privately owned estates. In 1925 a school with 35 places was built, a club with a library.
From August 1942 to January 1943, the village was under occupation.
On March 1, 1966, it was the center of the Novoyankulsky Village Council of the Aleksandrovsky District of the Stavropol Territory. The territory of the village council included 7 settlements: New Yankul villages, Farm No. 1 of the Yankulsky state farm , Farm No. 2 of the Yankulsky state farm , Farm No. 3 of the Yankulsky state farm ; Farm Horse, Sweet, Stroyhutor [4] .
On January 1, 1983, the Novoyankulsky village council was subordinate to the Kursavsky district of the Stavropol Territory, and its territory included 4 villages: Upper Yankul , Lower Yankul , New Yankul (center) and Ovrazhny [5] .

- Ivan Vasilyevich Orekhov (1925-1943) - guard of the Red Army, Hero of the Soviet Union. The machine gunner I.V. Orekhov for post-crossing the Dnieper during the Great Patriotic War was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. A native of the village.
