Biography and Activities

In 1954 he graduated from the S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy . In 1957 he entered the graduate school of the St. Petersburg Research Psychoneurological Institute . V.M. Bekhterev, in 1961 he successfully completed graduate school and defended his thesis. Further works in the Research Institute. V.M. Ankylosing spondylitis . In 1968 he defended his doctoral dissertation, in 1971 he was awarded the title of professor , and in 1996 - the title of Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation .

B. D. Karvasarsky is a student and follower of the famous psychiatrist, psychotherapist and medical psychologist V. N. Myasishchev . B. D. Karvasarsky was the country's leading scientist in the field of neurosis , psychotherapy and medical psychology .

From 1965 to 1975 , B.D. Karvasarsky simultaneously taught at Leningrad State University , and held the post of professor at the faculty of psychology (from 1970 to 1975 ). From 1982 to 1993 , he simultaneously worked at the St. Petersburg Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education . He organized the department of psychotherapy, which became the leading one in Russia; 4 new departments were created on the basis of this department (psychotherapy, medical psychology, sexology and child-teenage psychotherapy), and the department of medical psychology is the first independent department in the system of postgraduate education institutions. Three of the four MAPO departments are headed by his students.

In recent years, he has done a lot of public work: as the Chief Psychotherapist, Head of the Federal Scientific and Methodological Center for Psychotherapy and Medical Psychology (held this post since 1986 ), President of the professional Russian Psychotherapeutic Association he created , Chairman of the Problem Commission “Medical Psychology” of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences . He laid the foundation for the creation of a wide infrastructure of psychotherapeutic and medical-psychological services in Russia.

Being the Chief Psychotherapist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, he laid the foundations for a wide modern infrastructure of psychotherapeutic assistance to the population. He created the Institute of Chief Psychotherapists in the regions of the Russian Federation, organized their training and improvement. He was the head of a number of international psychotherapeutic programs, including with scientists from Germany , the USA .

Rewards

He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor ( 1981 ), a medal of the Order for Merit to the Fatherland, II degree ( 2007 ), and the honorary title of Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation ( 1996 ).

Scientific work

The author of 205 published scientific papers, 12 monographs. Monographs of B. D. Karvasar "Neurosis" ( 1980 , 1990 ), "Psychotherapy" ( 1985 ), "Medical Psychology" ( 1982 ) contributed to the development of these important areas of medical science and practice. Editor-in-chief of several encyclopedias and textbooks, including “Psychotherapeutic Encyclopedia”, “Clinical Psychology” (textbook for students of medical universities and psychological faculties).

Under his leadership, 123 dissertations were defended (23 doctoral and 100 candidate).

Boris Dmitrievich died suddenly on September 24, 2013.

On this day he was at work, participated in a meeting of the Academic Council, and died on his return home.
