Group History
The group was formed in 1993 , in the city of Auckland (California) . The members of the group met at the police station, where they were kept in the cell for a couple of days. In prison, they wrote several songs. [1] The band released their eponymous cassette and single, MonkeyBeautyShotgun, at their own Rhesus Records studio in 1994 . In 1996, the band released their second album Pretty ... Slow . This album was eventually released on three small labels , each of which was responsible for the distribution and sale of its part of the CDs. The third album, Baby Loves a Funny Bunny , was also released in 1996.
The band then signs a contract with Matador Records , which releases the albums Pardon My French in 1997 and Conduct in 1998 . According to Timothy Pradom, the marketing director of Matador Records told them that the group should change their name, but they refused. [2]
After Conduct, the band breaks their contract with Matador Records and often changes labels. In 2001, they released two albums on two different labels: Cupid's Cactus was released on independent label Steve Shelley , Smells Like Records, and Gold Bricks was released on Homesleep. Those Are Not My Bongos was released in 2003 on both Homesleep and Future Farmer Records; they later released Gold Bricks in the USA in 2004 . [3]
As of now, Fuck has participated in over 400 concerts and recorded on nine different labels. The band members now live on the opposite coast of the United States: Pradom lives in New York , and the rest live in the San Francisco Bay area . The band’s website reports that the band’s new album was completed in January 2007, but no release label or release date was announced.
