The World Drafts Championships-64 of the FMJD / IFFS are held in two versions: Russian drafts and Brazilian drafts .
The first championship was held in 1993. Since 2003, the program included competitions in the format of lightning checkers (blitz) and fast checkers . The difference between these formats in time for the party. MARCH World Championships are not officially recognized.
History
The World Championship in the Russian version of drafts-64 was first held in 1993, the year after the creation of the "section-64" under the auspices of the FMJD, which was engaged in the development of drafts on a small board. Since then, the world championships were held under the auspices of the FMJD in Russian drafts and in Brazilian drafts [1] . In the 1990s and early 2000s, competitions were held in parallel, bearing the status of world championships in Russian drafts, under the auspices of the International Association of Russian Drafts (MARCH) , the results of which were not recognized by the FMJD [2] .
In October 2015, section-64 left the FMJD and holds the world championships in Russian drafts on its own [1] . The leadership of section-64, after the separation of the International Drafts Federation , does not recognize the world championships in Brazilian drafts, which are still held by the FMJD [3] ; after it, these drafts were refused to be recognized by the Russian Drafts Federation , which threatened sanctions to Russian athletes who would take part in them [4] .
However, the FMJD continues to develop drafts-64, for which two sections of drafts-64 were again created: Russian and Brazilian. In 2018, the Russian Drafts Federation left the IFF and Russian drafts players took part in the World Championships, which took place in Izmir, Turkey, under the auspices of section-64 of the FMJD (Brazilian). Section-64 of the FMJD (Russians) also holds its own tournaments; in October 2018, the Russian drafts-64 world championship was held in Nizhnevartovsk.
