Biography

She was born on October 23, 1922 in the village of Zhyekkum, Urdinsky district of the Ural province (now in the Republic of Kazakhstan) [1] . Kazashka [1] , from the genus Sherkesh . Manshuk's parents died early, his father was repressed and a five-year-old girl was adopted by her aunt Amina Mametova. Manshuk spent his childhood in Alma-Ata. Manshuk's real name was Mansiya, and in her childhood, Amin apai called her affectionately “Monshakim”, but since Manshuk was small, she could not pronounce the word “Monshak” and she only managed to say “Manchuk”. Since then, she began to sign letters to Manchuk.

Before the war she graduated from the rabfak , two courses of a medical institute. She worked in the apparatus of the Council of People's Commissars of the Kazakh SSR, secretary of the deputy chairman of the Council of People's Commissars.

In the Red Army since September 1942 , the clerk of the headquarters of the 100th Kazakh Separate Rifle Brigade (transformed into the 1st Rifle Division on December 8, 1943. Subsequently, the division was awarded the Order of the Red Banner , it was given the honorary name "Brest"), then the nurse . At the front, she graduated from machine gunner courses and was appointed the first number of machine gun calculation in the combat unit.

On October 15, 1943, in heavy battles for the liberation of the city of Nevel ( Nevel offensive operation ) while defending a dominant height, it remained one of the machine-gun crews, having been seriously wounded by a shrapnel in the head, destroyed 70 enemy soldiers [2] and died the death of the brave.

The title of Hero of the Soviet Union of Guards to Senior Sergeant Mametova Manshuk Zhiengalievna was posthumously awarded by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 1, 1944 [3] .

Memory

  • In 1969, the director M.S. Begalin, based on the script by A. S. Konchalovsky , made the film " Song of Manshuk ." In the role of Manshuk starred N. U. Arinbasarova .
  • School No. 35 was named in honor of Manshuk Mametova in the city of Shymkent , school No. 27 in the city of Taraz, and technical lyceum No. 28 in Alma-Ata.
  • In Alma-Ata, one of the central streets was named after Manshuk Mametova, and a paired bronze monument to the Kazakh heroines of the war, Manshuk Mametova and Aliya Moldagulova, was erected in Central Square.
  • In the main ridge of the Malo-Almaty spur south of Alma-Ata is the peak named after Manshuk Mametova.
  • In 1978, a monument to M. Mametova was erected in Nevel and a street was named after her. May 1, 2010 the monument was updated [4] .
  • In 1988, a monument to M. Mametova was erected in Uralsk (Kazakhstan) in the square named after her. The five-meter and eight-ton monument stood for more than thirty years, in 2017 it was replaced by a new one dedicated to the three heroes of the Great Patriotic War - Manshuk Mametova, Aliya Moldagulova and Hiuaz Dospanova under the name “Glorious daughters of the Kazakh people” [5] .
  • In Uralsk (Kazakhstan), there is the house of M. Mametova’s Museum on Sarayshyқ Street, 51 (State Institution “M. Mametova Memorial Museum”) [6] . On the basis of the museum in Uralsk in 2010, the Manshuk Museum was opened in Aktobe [7] .
  • The only garment factory in Astana is named after Manshuk Mametova.
