Since 1969, the SIIPM Yearbook (SIPRI) has been published. The Russian edition has been published since 1995 and is being prepared jointly with the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IMEMO RAS).

Institute History
In 1964, the Prime Minister of Sweden, Tage Erlander, put forward the idea of establishing a research institute in honor of the 150th anniversary of Sweden ’s policy of neutrality . The Swedish Royal Commission, led by Alva Myrdal , proposed in its report in 1966 to establish an institute, which later became known as the International Institute for the Study of Peace (SIPRI). The Institute’s goal is “to identify the prerequisites for a stable peace and find peaceful solutions to international conflicts ”. The Commission advised focusing research on arms limitation, reduction and control. In addition, the commission recommended that the SIIPM (SIPRI) “work on political issues of practical importance”. The Institute was founded on July 1, 1966 in Stockholm (Sweden).
SIIPM (SIPRI) has a reputation as a research institute, which has a wide database in areas such as arms limitation, reduction and control, production and transportation of weapons, military spending . All sources used by the institute are open.
Institute Structure
The Institute consists of the following units:
- The Board makes decisions on important issues relating to the field of research, activities and financial matters.

- Researchers recommend to the Board topics relevant to the study. They are invited for a certain period while the project is ongoing, and are experts in various disciplines. SIPRI employs researchers from different countries.

The advisory committee has an advisory role.
SIPRI works closely with several intergovernmental organizations, such as the United Nations and the European Union . In addition, the institute regularly invites various parliamentarians, scientific delegations, and researchers from other institutions.

Publications

The book was first published on November 12, 1969. The book is an independent source that can be used by journalists, politicians and other researchers interested in armed conflicts and their solutions, arms control and so on. The book is translated into Russian, Ukrainian, Chinese and Arabic.
Funding
SIPRI is funded by grants provided mainly by the Swedish government. The Institute also seeks financial support from other organizations and independent foundations.
