SITA ( fr. Société Internationale de Télécommunications Aéronautiques ) is a Swiss multinational information organization representing telecommunications and IT services in the aviation industry. The original name “ Société Internationale de Télécommunications Aéronautiques ” (“International Aeronautical Telecommunications Company”) is not currently used, the company is simply called SITA.
SITA was organized in 1949 by 11 airlines in the form of a cooperative that provides communication between airports and is a telecommunications developer. The company first used real-time information processing based on a packet-switched network using leased lines of public networks.
