“Chertkov Group” (another name is “attic poets” [1] ) is the first poetic group of uncensored Moscow authors of the 1950s.
Group History
It was formed in 1953 . The key figures of the group were its charismatic leader Leonid Chertkov , the most striking poet of the group Stanislav Krasovitsky and Galina Andreeva , the owner of the "Montmartre attic" - the apartment where the group was going [2] . The group also included Andrey Sergeev , Valentin Khromov , biologist Oleg Gritsenko , Nikolay Shatrov ; later, psychiatrists Mikhail Yarmush and Marat Veksler [2] [1] joined.
Without speaking with special manifestos, the authors of Chertkov's group diverged significantly in their poetics; they were united, first of all, by a fundamental interest in the aesthetic side of poetry, which led to a confrontation with official both “socialist-realist” and “thawing” poetry, aimed more likely at the social dimension of literature [2] .
The group broke up in 1957 after the arrest and conviction of Chertkov for anti-Soviet agitation and propaganda.
