Story
The beginning of World War II . British officer Roy Cronin ( Robert Taylor ) is preparing to be sent to France, to the front, but first decides to call on Waterloo Bridge , with which he has so many memories. Here, on the bridge, the past rises before his eyes.
The previous World War I is in full swing. During the bombing of London on Waterloo Bridge, young ballerina Mayra ( Vivien Leigh ) and handsome officer Roy meet and fall in love. He asks for her hand, she gives consent, but suddenly he is sent to the front. For an affair with the military, a strict teacher ( Maria Uspenskaya ) expels Mayra from the ballet troupe, and soon in one of the newspapers she sees Roy's name in the lists of the dead. Despair, lack of money and unemployment lead the girl to the panel . But the message of Roy’s death turns out to be erroneous, and he returns.
