Biography

Born on September 2, 1943 in the city of Kalach-on-Don [2] .

He dreamed of becoming an artist since childhood, and began to purposefully draw in the fourth grade [3] .

He studied at the Rostov Art College. M. B. Grekov from 1962 to 1967 with T. Teryaev , V. Shchebanova, V. Reznichenko, G. Mikhailova [4] . Since 1975 he is a member of the Union of Artists of Russia .

In 1976 he was awarded a diploma and a prize of the Union of Artists of the USSR , the Ministry of Culture of the USSR Central Committee of the Komsomol for the painting "An Evening in the Barrens". Since 1986 he is a member of the creative group "In the Homeland of Sholokhov" [5] [2] .

In 1979, he participated in the "Exhibition of Four" "(E. Pokidchenko, A. Legostaev, A. Tokarev , V. Kulchenko), which ended in scandal [6] .

According to legend, the famous Rostov partnership “Art or Death” was born in 1988 in the workshop of Valery Kulchenko [7] [8] .

In 1999, he was awarded a diploma of the Ministry of Culture of the Rostov Region for winning the competition “Picture of the Year” (“The Cry of Cranes” was heard). In 2003 he was awarded a diploma of the Union of Artists of Russia for the painting "Love and Atom" at the exhibition "Russia-10". In 2004 he was awarded a diploma of the Union of Artists of Russia at the X Republican Art Exhibition in Moscow.

He is a laureate of the South Russian literary and art contest "The Great Veshenets" on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of M. A. Sholokhov . June 13, 2005 was awarded the national gold medal of M. A. Sholokhov.

Lives and works in Rostov-on-Don [2] .
