Biography
Christopher got into the music industry by accident. In 1991, his friend David Birde, a bass player in the then-unknown Brainpool, was due to join the army for a year and asked if Lundquist could replace him with that time. Christopher agreed and after 12 months was so carried away by his new profession that even the musicians in the band unanimously decided that he should stay with them. After 2 years, the band's first music album was released. [2]
In 1994, Brainpool signed a contract with a new record company owned by Per Gessle , a member of the Roxette duet, lead singer Gyllene Tider and a music producer already known by then. Gessle founded this label in order to invest in new, young music bands playing music that Peru liked. This label was created to "encourage" young musicians, perhaps even unpromising, but from the point of view of Gessle - talented. Brainpool became the first band to sign the contract, and then Gessle became more interested in the music the band played. Then Brainpool acted as the opening act for Roxette during the 1994 tour “Crash! Boom! Bang! tour ”and Christopher met Marie Fredriksson and other musicians working at Roxette. Especially during the tour, Christopher made friends with the keyboardist and producer of Roxette, Clarence Ofverman. [2]
In 1994, Brainpool received the Swedish Grammy as the best new band of the year, and Lundvkist himself was nominated 4 more times, including as the best producer of the year. [3]
After the tour “Crash! Boom! Bang! tour »Per Gessle began to invite Christopher to record Roxette albums, and later to record solo projects. Like Brainpool, Christopher remained a bass player on Roxette, but in 2003, when he recorded Gessle's solo album Mazarin , which Lundquist produced, he first tried himself as a guitarist. Then he began to play the guitar and live performances. In addition, Christopher's friend, Brainpool drummer Jens Jonsson, also took part in the recording of the Mazarin record.
Christopher has owned Aerosol Gray Machine Studios Recording Studio since 1997, which his architect , a specialist architect , helped him build and design. It is located in southern Sweden in the province of Skåne . The musician named the studio in honor of the first single of Van der Graaf Generator , which was released in 1969 . He was a fan of this collective in childhood and decided to call his studio like that back in those days when he played music in the garage of his wife’s parents’ house. He admits that he buys all the tools at the eBay online auction, mainly from the United States . According to the musician, the main attraction of the acoustic studio is a small church organ . [four]
In recent years, Christopher has worked a lot with various artists, Swedish, American, New Zealand and so on. He took an active part in recording, arranging and producing Per Gessle's solo albums Mazarin ( 2003 ), Son of a Plumber ( 2005 ), En händig man ( 2007 ) and Party Crasher ( 2008 ), and also participated in tours with Per in 2003, 2007 and 2009.
In 2010 and 2011, Christopher toured extensively with Roxette as part of a Scandinavian and world tour . In May 2011, his debut album “ Through The Window ” was released.
Collaboration
He produced the albums of Pera Gessle and Gyllene Tider, and also acted as bass player and guitarist for Roxette and solo concerts of Pera Gessle, respectively.
Christopher Lundqvist is the producer of some famous Swedish musicians, including Roxette, Per Gessle, Helena Yousefsson , bands Gyllene Tider, Ludde, Hella & Göken and others. He also works with foreign artists, for example, with Peter von Pul ( English ) [5] .
On August 22, 2002, Lundquist released his solo EP, Major & Minor Songs. This is a digital release that can be downloaded from the CDON sites and the iTunes Music Store. The songs are published by Junk Musik, which is partially owned by Lundquist himself.
Studio
Christopher has his own recording studio in southern Sweden, Aerosol Gray Machine Studios (AGM). This is mainly an analog studio with a lot of old instruments and equipment, as well as two real echo rooms. Since its founding in 1998 , a huge number of Swedish and foreign artists have recorded at the AGM studio, including the popular Roxette , Pera Gessle , Ed Harcourt, Ulf Lundell, Gyllene Tider , Thåström, Bo Kasper Sundström, Cilihili , and Moneybrother.
Initially, in the room where the studio is located today was a corral for horses . Yulva Lundqvist, the wife of a musician, an architect by profession, helped to draw up a project and rebuild the abandoned stable into a studio that was acquired by the Lundqvist spouses in 1997 . The studio has several echo rooms so that when recording you can achieve unusual sound. Christopher buys most of the tools himself, brings them from the United States or buys at eBay . One of the attractions of the studio is a mini organ . A complete list of instruments and equipment for recording is presented on the official website of the studio. [6]
