Within the boundaries of the district, within the framework of local self-government, a municipality Solovetsky rural settlement was formed as part of the Primorsky municipal district [5] of the Arkhangelsk region of the Russian Federation .

The administrative center of the district is Solovetsky village.

Animal World of Solovki

The Solovetsky district was formed as part of the Arkhangelsk region by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR of March 23, 1987 on the territory of the Solovetsky Islands. During the municipal reform in 2004, the Solovetsky district received the status of a municipal district [7] .

January 1, 2006 on the territory of the district was formed the municipality of the Solovetsky rural settlement within the Primorsky municipal district [8] .

The Solovetsky district as an administrative-territorial unit of the region retains its status [4] .
