Snapdragon , Antirrinum ( lat.Antirrhínum ) - one of the most famous genera of perennial herbaceous plants from the Podorozhnikovy family (previously housed in the Norichnikov and Veronikov families). The genus antirrium covers about 50 perennial species, among which there are climbing species common in warm regions of the Earth.

Color variations of snapdragon
Snapdragon is most common in the Northern Hemisphere , especially in North America . In Russia and neighboring countries it is found mainly in gardens, where it is widely used in the design of flower beds . In the wild, there are about 22 species with ears of brightly colored zygomorphic flowers of bright yellow, purple, blue flowers, resembling a lion's mouth in the shape of a flower. Large snapdragon is , in particular, the most common garden species imported from North America.
Botanical DescriptionPerennial herbaceous or shrubby plants with large, finely furrowed green stems. The stems are straight, branched, with a height of 15 to 100 cm, forming pyramidal bushes. Lower leaves opposite, upper alternate, from lanceolate to elongate-oval. The flowers are large, irregular, two-lipped, simple or double, collected in a racemose. The color of the flowers is white, pink, yellow and two-tone. It blooms from June to frost.

Traditional medicine- Tea from the snapdragon is drunk for liver diseases , with bloating .
- With jaundice and kidney disease, snapdragon is used in a mixture with immortelle sand and stigmas of corn .
- Infusion of flowers of snapdragon is drunk with shortness of breath , dropsy , with headaches .
- Outwardly , a snap of snapdragon helps to treat hemorrhoids , as well as boils and various ulcers .
