The standard covers 46 regions, 21 republics, 9 territories, 4 autonomous districts, 2 cities and 1 autonomous region of Russia. The geocodes of regions, republics, territories, districts and cities of Russia consist of two parts: the Alpha2 code according to the ISO 3166-1 standard for Russia - RU and an additional code written through a hyphen. An additional two-three-letter code is formed in tune with the names of regions, republics, territories, districts and cities. The geocodes of regions, republics, territories, districts and cities of Russia are a subset of the codes of the top-level domain - RU , assigned to Russia in accordance with ISO 3166-1 .
