The Thermidorians are participants in the counter-revolutionary Thermidorian coup on July 27, 1794, after which they entered the so-called Thermidorian convention , and then played a significant role in the Directory .
The Thermidorian block was divided into:
- who played the leading role of the right-wing Thermidorians (they were led by Jean-Lambert Talien , Paul Barras and Joseph Foucher ) - the degenerated Jacobins , who represented the new bourgeoisie that became rich in speculation ;
- the so-called left - wing Thermidorians (led by Collot d'Herbois , J. Billot-Varenne and Marc Vadier ) - in the past, for the most part, belonged to the leftist movements of the Jacobins .
After the execution of Robespierre and his associates, the right-wing Thermidorians sought to push the left from power; after the Germinal uprising (1795), despite the complete non-involvement of the left Thermidorians, they arrested their main leaders and defeated the whole group.
