Officially, the authors are the four members of the collective - Jimmy Page , Robert Plant , John Paul Jones and John Bonham , but in fact, if not the author, then the co-author of the song is the blues singer Chelin Burnett , whose song “ Killing Floor ” formed the basis of the composition.
“ Lemon ” is a typical blues euphemism , meaning “genitals” or “mulatto”. In the song, the hero asks an unknown woman to “squeeze his lemon until the juice runs down his legs”
squeeze (my lemon) 'til the juice runs down my leg
The author of the text in this part of the song is actually another blues singer Robert Johnson with his song “Traveling Riverside Blues” [1] .
"Killing Floor" was first played on the first Led Zeppelin tour of the United States in 1968 - 1969 . In 1969, the group played it on two more tours, on which it eventually acquired a look close to the version from Led Zeppelin II .
