Biography
Born on July 26, 1818, in the village of Nuknitsa, in the Serbian camp of the peasant family of Yakub Kuchank and Ghana, née Bruskiec from Hroschitz. From 1830 he studied at the Lusatia Seminary in Prague , from which he graduated in 1837. As a student at the Lusatia seminary, he also studied at the Malostranska gymnasium . From 1837 to 1842 he studied theology and philosophy at Charles University . After returning to Lusatia, he was ordained priest on October 21, 1842 in Dresden. From December 1, 1842, he served as vicar at the Serboluzhitsk church in Budišín. In 1844 he was the administrator of the parish in the city of Mishno and from 1846 he served for many years in Budishin. He was one of the founders of the Serbiani cultural and educational organization " Matitsa Serbska ". In 1847–1849, 1850–1856 and 1857–1860, he was the secretary of Matica Serbian. After its foundation in 1862, the Serbiani cultural and social organization of the Society of Saints Cyril and Methodius was its chairman until his death in 1898. In 1856 he was appointed rector of the parish in the village of Nasheya. In 1869 he was appointed canon of the chapter of St. Peter’s Cathedral in Budishin. From 1879 he was the head of the chapter and the dean.
He died on July 28, 1898 and was buried on July 1, 1898 at the Nikolaevsky cemetery in Budishin.
Literary Activity
In 1848 he published the book "Serbske Hornje žužicy abo statistiski zapisk wšitkich serbskich ewangelskich a katolskich wosadow a jich duchownych a wučerjow" . In 1848 he wrote the story “Jutrowne jejka” and in 1852 - the story “Dobre symjo” . He founded and was the editor from November 1848 to December 1850 of the weekly “Jutrnička” .
