Gurtskaya, Diana Gudaevna

Born on July 2, 1978 in Sukhumi , in a Megrel family. Father - Guda Adamurovich Gurtskaya - miner, mother - Zaira Amiranovna Gurtskaya - teacher (died in 2001) ^{[1] [2]} . Blind from birth, Diana became the youngest, fourth child in a large family, she has two brothers, Dzhambul, Robert (producer Diana) ^[3] and sister Eliso. She graduated from boarding school for blind and visually impaired children in Tbilisi . At the same time, she convinced the music school teachers that she could learn to play the piano .

At the age of 10 she made her debut performance at the Tbilisi Philharmonic , sang a duet with Georgian singer Irma Sokhadze . ^[3]

In 1995 she became one of the winners of the “Yalta - Moscow - Transit” music competition. In 1999 she graduated from the pop department of the Moscow Gnesin Music School . In 2003 she graduated from the Institute of Modern Art and entered the magistracy of the Faculty of Arts at Moscow State University. M. V. Lomonosov .

In March 2000, the studio “ARS” releases the debut album of the singer “You Are Here”, which included songs by Igor Nikolayev and Sergey Chelobanov .

In 2002 the second album of the singer “You Know, Mom” is released.

On March 1, 2008, a qualifying round was held at the Tbilisi Sports Palace, which resulted in Diana representing Georgia in Belgrade at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 in May.

In 2009, on the International Paralympic Day, held for the first time in Moscow, the Organizing Committee of the Sochi-2014 Olympics assigned Diana Gurtskaya the status of Sochi 2014 Ambassador as a person promoting the ideas of the Olympic and Paralympic movement in Russia and the world ^[4] .

Personal life

On September 21, 2005, she married the professor of the department of constitutional law of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, a lawyer, doctor of law Peter Alexandrovich Kucherenko (born May 3, 1974) ^[5] . Together with his wife, he created a fund for helping blind children “At the call of the heart” ^{[6] [7] [8]} .

On June 29, 2007, the son of Konstantin Kucherenko was born in the family.

Social position

On March 1, 2014, she signed an appeal by cultural figures of Russia in support of the policies of President Vladimir V. Putin in Ukraine and the Crimea ^[9] .

The singer supported the idea of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill to ban abortions in Russia. ^{[10] [11] [12]}

In January 2018, she was registered as a confidant of Vladimir Putin in the presidential elections of March 18, 2018 ^[13] .

In 2018, she was a confidant of Moscow Mayor candidate Sergei Sobyanin . ^[14]

The White Cane International Charitable Festival is a creative project created and implemented by Diana Gurtskaya and her foundation “To the call of the heart” for blind and visually impaired children. Festivals are held in the month of October, every year since 2010.
