National Association of Industrialists

The National Association of Industrialists ( English National Association of Manufacturers ) is the largest public organization uniting (mostly large) US manufacturing companies.

The National Association of Industrialists was founded in Cincinnati in 1895 . During this period, the US experienced an economic downturn, and large companies, concerned with the marketing of their products, thus decided to combine their efforts in lobbying for market liberalization. In the early years, 76 large US firms and corporations became founding members, including such companies as Procter & Gamble , IBM , AT & T (also known as Western Electric), General Motors , General Electric and the famous John F. Rockefeller company - Standard Oil, now represented part of it is the oil company BP .

Now the headquarters of the association is located in Washington . The governing bodies of the association consist of the Board of Directors and about 20 standing committees that are engaged in calculating various economic indicators for the needs of the members of the association and lobbying the interests of the association in the US Congress . Each state in the United States has a regional branch office. Currently, the association consists of several tens of thousands of companies.

Based on clashes between the National Association of Industrialists and US government agencies, Rex Stout 's novel “Silent Speaker” is based.
