Scientific Research
The main directions of VD Pismenny’s research are the study of plasma dynamics and the development of methods for exciting high-power gas lasers using ionizing radiation. He discovered such physical phenomena and processes as the birth and development of overheating instability, revealed the essential role of line emission of impurities in the energy balance of thermonuclear plasma, experimentally showed the possibility of obtaining lasing when excited by gaseous media with nuclear reaction energy.
Awards
For success in the production and social activities of V. D. Pismenny was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor (1967), the Order of Courage (1996) [3] and 4 medals. He is the winner of the Lenin Prize (1984) and the State Prize of the USSR (1978).
