Forochel ( Synd. Forochel , "northern ice"; otherwise Foroshel , Forochel , Forochel ) - in the legendarium of J. R. R. Tolkien Bay in the north of Middle-earth . Also called Forohel Gulf Coast. From the south and east it is surrounded by the lands of Forwight , from the west by the Blue Mountains . The climate is very severe, in winter very severe frosts.
The only mention of this area is found in " Unfinished Tales ." It was here that the last king of Arthadine , Arveduy , fled . Here he was given refuge by the Lossot people - the original inhabitants of Forwight. In the spring of 1974 T.E. , Cirdan Korabel sent his ships to help the king, who had encountered insurmountable ice in the bay. With great difficulty, they made their way to land and took Arvedui on board. But, sailing out of the bay, the sailors could not cope with the situation, and the ship was crushed by ice. No one was saved. At the bottom of Forochel Bay lies the body of the last King Arthadine and two palantirs - from the towers Amon Sul and Annuminas , which Arveduy took with him when he fled from Arnor .
