First Chechen War
During the First Chechen War in 1994-1995. In early December 1994, the 131st separate motorized rifle brigade received orders to depart for the Chechen Republic for an operation to disarm illegal groups. Upon arrival at their destination near the Grozny airport, the Severny Brigade was given the task of taking the line along the Neftyanka River and providing access for assault troops and other parts of the northern federal forces to the city.
However, at 11:00 on December 31, 1994, a new task arrived - the combined detachment of the brigade to enter the city and capture the railway station. The combined detachment under the command of Colonel Ivan Savin went to an empty station, and by 13:00 on December 31, 1994 he had completely completed the combat mission, connecting with the units (motorized rifle battalion and tank company) of the 81st motorized rifle regiment . At 19:00, the combined detachment was attacked by large militant forces and continued to hold the station in complete encirclement, waiting for reinforcements of other units and formations. During the battle, brigade units suffered significant losses: the brigade lost 157 people (24 of them were brigade officers). The brigade lost 22 tanks, 45 infantry fighting vehicles, 7 vehicles and all 6 Tunguska anti-aircraft battalions.
In battle, the brigade commander, Colonel Ivan Savin. Sergeant Blarneysky showed courage and fidelity to duty.
- The commander of the federal forces in Chechnya, Lieutenant General Pulikovsky :
For me, the fighting in the North Caucasus and, of course, the deaths of the personnel of 131 separate motorized rifle brigades on New Year's Eve 1995 are a special line of my life. A lot has been said about this event, but one thing is true - the brigade turned out to be the only military unit that was able to complete the task during the storming of Grozny, although all units located on the outskirts of the city received similar orders. The personnel of the brigade managed to break through the defenses of the militants and enter the assigned area, taking up designated positions near the railway station. And it was not their fault that others could not do this, that they alone had to repel attacks of superior enemy forces. Along with the rank and file, brigade officers fought and died. And this unequal battle was led by their commander, Colonel Ivan Alekseevich Savin , who, already seriously wounded, did not leave his soldiers. Death does not make out the ranks - it divides everyone later: into the dead and the living. But still, there is one thing in common that has united them forever. All of them, as befits a Russian soldier, fulfilled their duty to the end and defended the honor of the Russian army. This was recognized even by Chechens ...
- K.B. Pulikovsky
The brigade was commanded by:
- The first brigade commander is Colonel Chirkov, Viktor Petrovich .
- Colonel I. A. Savin
- Colonel V. A. Mulin
- Colonel Karaoglanyan A.V.
Second Chechen War
Since September 11, 1999, during the counter-terrorist operation , the 9th separate tank battalion of the brigade (hereinafter referred to as “9 battalion”), as part of the Eastern Group of Forces, carried out the tasks of destroying bandit formations in the area of the village of Gamiyy, Republic of Dagestan . Until October 20, 2000, he participated in the liberation of the Dubovskaya , Starogladkovskaya , Staroshchedrinskaya villages of the Shelkovsky district of the Chechen Republic from bandits. From October 30, 1999 to March 2000, 9 battalions, supporting the 234th and 119th paratrooper regiments, fought for the village of Engel-Yurt , the village of Novogroznensky , the cities of Gudermes and Shali . There were no irretrievable combat losses during this period, thanks to the high training of personnel for military operations and comprehensive support.
On February 1, 2009, the 131st Omsbr was reorganized into the 7th Krasnodar Red Banner, the Kutuzov and Red Star Orders military base .

Brigade March
Krasnodar Red Banner [3] .
music by I.P. Shevchenko
the words of G. I. Smirnov
In the eighteenth, in the heart of Russia
In civilian, in battles was born
It was called the Kursk Infantry
And the camp life began.
Ukraine, Donbass, Transcaucasia
She had a chance to get through the battles
Part nine banner
To carry through the heat of war.
Chorus (2 times):
One hundred thirty-first, motorized rifle,
We are yours and Fatherland sons
Krasnodar, Red Banner
Holy to our Motherland.
In the forty-third, in fierce battles,
She stormed Krasnodar,
In the Kuban, from the mountains of Adygea
The victorious path to Prague has passed.
Tempered in harsh hikes
The character of the fighters also matured,
Orders on the panels shine -
The valor of the deeds of our fathers.
Chorus:
And now her change is a brigade,
To sons to protect borders.
At the station of the capital of Chechen
She had to take the first fight.
Defending the expanses of the Fatherland,
We swear, O Mother Motherland,
Combat Traditions
Holy to honor, preserve, multiply.
