The first in a list of seven musicians was Robert Johnson (according to critics, he is considered the first member of Club 27). The list also included Jimi Hendrix , Jim Morrison and Janice Joplin . The most important detail of their death, which served as the impetus for the creation of the Club, is that they died over a period of time of 10 months [3] .
Brian Jones was later on the list; while Morrison and Jones died on the same day, but with a difference of two years [3] .
Then Kurt Cobain , who died in 1994, was included in the Club at the peak of popularity [3] [5] [6] .
After the death of the British singer Amy Winehouse in 2011, she was ranked among the Club by many publications [7] [8] [9] [3] .

Criticism
Kurt Cobain ’s biographer Charles R. Cross wrote: “The number of musicians who die at 27 is indeed significant by any standard. Although people always die at any age, the number of deaths of musicians at the age of 27 is significantly increasing ” [33] .
However, in 2011, researchers from the Australian University of Technology tried to question the Club 27 phenomenon based on a statistical analysis. Having studied information about the deaths of not only great or significant musicians of rock history, but also everyone in a row who managed to get to the top of the British hit parade from 1956 to 2007 (1046 names of both soloists and members of pop and rock groups), they found that musicians die at the age of 27 no more often than in any other. In their sample, 71 people died (7%). Although in general musicians die before ordinary people (often under 40), the existence of a special “club 27” was called by researchers the result of biased selection of facts and random coincidences. However, scientists have found some evidence of an increase in the number of deaths in the age cluster of 20-30-year-old musicians in the 1970s and early 1980s, and the death rate of young musicians of this age is 2–3 times higher than the mortality of the general population of Great Britain.
