Stereo mc's

Stereo MC's is a British hip hop band founded in 1985. They worked in the genres of electronic music, house , acid jazz , trip hop , rap . For eight years, from 1992 to 2000, the team seemed to cease to exist. After a long pause, a confident return to service followed.

The history of Stereo MC's is inextricably linked with the history of the independent label Gee Street, which was created in Brixton in 1985 . Two musicians needed their own label - rapper Rob B., nee Rob Birch, and a certain Head, real name Nick Hallam, who specialized in DJing and producing. They already tried to draw up their creative work in the studio and hoped that with the advent of the label it would be easier for them to publish and distribute their recordings. The owners of Gee Street discussed the terms of cooperation with the 4th & Broadway company, housed in New York, so that the project of the two Brixtons got access to both the British and American markets.
