The Kutaisovs are a count clan descended from a Georgian boy from the city of Kutaisi, captured by Russian troops and given in service to the heir to the throne Pavel Petrovich under the name of Ivan Kutaisov . The boy himself was from the family of the royal nobles of Tarielashvili under the name Ivane Tarielashvili. After accession to the throne, Paul I made his beloved valet first a baron , and then a count (in 1799). There is an assumption that Ivane Tarielashvili himself received a surname in honor of his native city - ( Kutais ). The Kutaisov clan was included in the fifth part of the genealogy book of the Tambov province .
