The first prototype of the production version, called Kia cee'd , was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in the spring of 2006. The design of the production model was developed under the abbreviation ED (European Design) by a German design firm in Rüsselsheim .

The first images of the pro_cee'd concept were published on September 20, 2006. The final production model was presented at the September 2006 Paris Motor Show, along with two further versions: pro_cee'd , a three-door version and cee'd sw , a station wagon version. Engines and gearboxes

Gas engines
