“ Friday the 13th ” (1980). The first film of the series, which became equal to “ Halloween ”, “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre ” and “ Nightmare on Elm Street ” is a model of a youth slasher . The film tells about a group of counselors who are preparing to open a children's camp with a very bad reputation: in 1958, two counselors were brutally killed there, and a year earlier a boy named Jason Voorhees drowned in the lake. Now someone is chasing the guys, killing them one by one, until only a girl named Alice remains alive. The intrigue was held around the personality of the maniac, who turned out to be Jason's mother - crazy Pamela Voorhees.

“ Friday the 13th. Part 2 "(1981). In continuation of the picture, released a year after the success of the first part, the grown-up Jason becomes a maniac, who, as it turned out, did not drown in the lake, but hid in the forest. Having witnessed the death of his mother, he begins to take revenge - first Jason kills Alice, and then the guys who settled in the camp on the shores of Crystal Lake.

“ Friday the 13th. Part 3 in 3D "(1982). In the third part, the maniac continues to pursue random victims who find themselves not far from Crystal Lake. This part is not particularly original, some of the plot moves resemble both previous films. It was in this series that Jason got his legendary hockey mask.

“ Friday the 13th: The Last Chapter ” (1984). In this part, one of the main characters of the series appears - Tommy Jarvis. In addition to Jason Voorhees himself, Tommy is the only hero who appears on the series several times - he has three films on his account.

“ Friday the 13th - Part VII: New Blood ” (1988). In this part, Jason finds himself a worthy opponent: a girl named Tina. She has the gift of telekinesis , with the help of which she once again succeeds in defeating a maniac.

“ Friday the 13th - Part VIII: Jason Storms Manhattan ” (1989). Initially, the scriptwriters had two ideas for the new series, which they combined: the action takes place first on the ship, and then in New York, where Jason is chasing two victims.

“ Jason Goes to Hell: Last Friday ” (1993). In the ninth part of the series, the FBI opens a hunt for a maniac, wanting to once and for all end the killings in the area of ​​Crystal Lake. They succeed, and Jason goes to hell, and Freddy Krueger's clawed hand drags him there. After the events of this film, the action “Freddy vs. Jason” takes place - the creators simply decided to step over “Jason X”.

" Jason X " (2001). Like many other horror series - “Critters”, “Leprechaun”, “HellRaiser” - Jason could not do without reincarnation in space - the creators decided to look into the future, in which our planet was abandoned by earthlings in search of a new place to live. A group of scientists finds Jason frozen and transports him to his ship. Unfortunately, the maniac thawed and began to hunt for members of the expedition. The film was shot large enough and spectacularly for a teen horror film. According to critics, the picture became one of the best in the entire series.

“ Freddy vs. Jason ” (2003). This interweaving of characters and plots of two famous series has become an event in the world of horrors - Freddy Krueger finally ran into a battle with Jason Voorhees. The final remained open so that fans could interpret the outcome of their battle in different ways. But after the release of the Freddy and Jason vs. Ash comic book series, there was no doubt.

“ Friday the 13th ” (2009). After successful remakes of "Halloween" and the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", the New Line Cinema studio, which bought the rights from Paramount Pictures after the eighth part, decided to launch the popular series from the very beginning. The basis of the script is not much different from the original.

Planned sequel

Shortly after the premiere of the 2009 remake, producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form expressed interest in creating another franchise film, citing the pleasure they experienced during the production of the first remake. October 1, 2009 Warner Bros. Pictures announced that it plans to release the sequel to “Friday the 13th” on August 13, 2010 ^[1] . Already December 10, 2009 Warner Bros. announced that the premiere was postponed indefinitely. The company also announced that Damien Shannon and Mark Swift will write the script for the sequel. ^[2] On April 21, 2010, Fuller announced on his Twitter page that the continuation of the 2009 remake was no longer in production. ^[3] In a later interview, Fuller said the 2009 film was the result of a collaborative effort between Paramount and New Line Cinema. On January 27, 2017, it was reported that the film had the working title “Fridays, 13th: Part 13”. Platinum Dunes was looking for someone who could play the young Jason Voorhees, and the production was supposed to begin in March 2017 ^{[16] [17] [18]} . Victor Miller, who wrote the script for the original film, claimed that Horror Inc. received current copyright for the script as a result of Miller transferring copyright to the prior company Horror Inc., Manny Company. Miller sent a termination notice to Horror Inc on January 26, 2016 to return his rights to the script and content. Already in the summer of 2016, the screenwriter of the original film, Victor Miller, filed an application for the return of rights over the series, since under US law this is possible 35 years after the transfer of rights to third parties ^[22] . In accordance with copyright law, the employer is considered the legal author and copyright holder if the work is performed in the field of employment of the employee. If, as Cunningham claims, Miller wrote the script as an employee of the Manny Company, he never owned the script ^[23] . A dispute between Cunningham (Horror, Inc.) and Miller over copyright ownership of the series was pending before the Connecticut federal court. ^[24] Due to the lawsuit, the production of any goods affecting the franchise was suspended. So the developers of the games Friday the 13th: The Game and Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle in the summer of 2018 suspended support for their products ^{[25] [26]} . On September 28, 2018, Miller won a lawsuit against Horror, Inc. for rights over the franchise name and characters of the first film exclusively in the United States. At the same time, for Horror, Inc. all international rights remain. From 1987 to 1990, a series was shown with the same name Friday, _13-е_ (television series) . Antiques dealer Lewis Wendredi made an agreement with the devil - in exchange for wealth, magical power and immortality, he must sell damned things in his Wendredi Antiques store. One day, Lewis violates the terms of the contract and dies.
