History

The city authorities argued for a long time about what type of transport should be launched in the city: tram or bus. The former claimed that trams are cleaner, the latter claimed that buses are cheaper and there is no need to lay complex rail systems. And when these disputes came to a standstill, one artist (or cartoonist) painted something like a hybrid of a tram and a bus (the upper part of this art was more like a tram, and the lower one like a bus). When this picture was brought to the attention of the city authorities, the decision was made almost immediately - a trolleybus would go in the city, which almost no one had heard of at that time. So in the city appeared an environmentally friendly mode of transport.

On November 26, 1936, several new lines were opened, and deliveries of specially ordered Mercedes state-of-the-art machines began. The start was made with a 7.8-kilometer line from the northern suburbs of Sprind to the village of Heyenhof on the opposite outskirts of the city along Nordenberger Street to the corner of Wiesenweg. This trolleybus line replaced the bus line. The contact network, mounted by AEG , was arranged single-track with travel. And therefore, “triangles” were arranged at both end points, and not reversal loops. However, before the war, the "triangles" were replaced by loops, since the movement of trolleybuses with trailers was started.

In the center of the city, on the Old Market (now the nine-story district), two paths were arranged and a reversal loop was arranged, on which the wagons coming from both Sprindt and Wiesenweg could turn around.

A small trolleybus depot on Kleinbahn-Strasse (now UES on Zheleznodorozhnaya Street) was connected by a separate contact line to the line on Ziegel Strasse (now Victory Street).

By 1940, the machines served seven routes, four of which were suburban.

After the war, there were no trolleybuses in Chernyakhovsk. According to the official version, in the winter of the 45th, before the retreat, the Germans removed all the contact lines made of the most valuable copper wire.
