Biography

Beginning of a music career

The Sounds appeared when childhood friends Felix Rodriguez and Johan Bengtsson decided to create a group of their friends, including drummer Fredrik Nilsson. Maya Ivarsson , a former classic forge player, was invited to the team as the lead soloist. Then they accidentally met Jesper Anderberg at . The group got its name a few months later during a trip to London .

The group recorded their first album, Living in America , in 2002, while they were just finishing school. This album immediately skyrocketed to 4th place in the Swedish charts and won several awards, including the Swedish Grammy . The team won the attention of listeners even in America: quite a few concerts were played, the group spent a lot of time on tours with such stars as Foo Fighters and The Strokes .

In addition, The Sounds participated in all evening television shows, and was not deprived of the attention of the press, including the Sunday supplement to The New York Times , which is a great success for any group. They managed to attract fans of world-famous stars such as Dave Grohl , Farrell Williams , Quentin Tarantino , Bam Marger and even Britney Spears into their camp.

“It's incredible to be from such a small Swedish town and be popular with such celebrities, ” said Jesper Underberg. “ But it's great when we play, and people like it!” This is the most important thing for us. ”

Securing Success

The band's second album, Dying to Say This to You , is an even stronger mix of punk and pop. Imprisoned by a music trust, which included producer The Jeff Saltzman ( The Killers " Hot Fuss "), with support from James Ihee ( The Smashing Pumpkins , A Perfect Circle ) and (co-owners of the record company Scratchie Records), as well as the mixer ( Radiohead , Pixies , Hole ), the album is a diverse and deeper version of the sound compared to what they played in the beginning:

“Rock songs are more rock and electronic are more electronic, ” says Maya . “ One song even has disco motifs like Erasure has , but you still feel like this is typical The Sounds music.”
