Opening and Closing History
The operation was opened on June 11, 1970 with the first route - from the engine-building plant to the Medical Equipment factory.
On October 5, 2009, the trolleybus network was closed according to the official version - due to the low demand for this type of transport and the "active development of urban development and infrastructure" [1] [3] . According to unofficial data, the reasons for the closure are the interest of owners of private buses and fixed-route taxis close to power in eliminating a competitor in the form of electric vehicles, as well as the interest of a number of development companies in obtaining a building plot of land on which a trolleybus depot is located. Between the end of December 2009 and February 20, 2010 the contact network was completely dismantled. At the same time, part of the traction substations located in various districts of the city for more than a year remained connected to the power grid in order to protect equipment from scrap metal hunters. After the transfer of the last trolleybuses in April 2013, the contact network was dismantled directly at the depot.
Operator
The trolleybus network was operated by OJSC Tyumen Trolleybus Enterprise, located at 625000, Tyumen, ul. Republic, 200, director: Boris V. Kholyavko.
Rolling stock
In Tyumen, only ZiU-682 models were operated. There were no other trolleybuses in Tyumen at all. As of June 1, 2009, 55 cars were in operation, the depreciation of the trolleybus fleet was about 80% [4] .
In January-July 2008, 3 units of trolleybuses not subject to operation were written off. In 2007, 5 units of trolleybuses that were not subject to operation were written off. The fleet is designed for 100 units of trolley buses.
As of March 2010, there were 42 trolleybuses on the balance sheet of TTP OJSC, of which 19 were trolleybuses. have an age of 5 to 8 years, 10 pcs. - from 8 to 13 years old, another 13 pcs. - age over 13 years.
In September 2010, the transfer of part of the rolling stock to the city of Kurgan [5] began . As subsequent events showed, in Kurgan the most “fresh” trolleybuses were transported under a lease agreement, some were transported as “donors” of spare parts. In 2011, several trolleybuses were transported back to Tyumen and unloaded in the park. In April 2013, the last two trolley buses were transferred from Tyumen to Kurgan. In 2016, in connection with the closure of the trolleybus movement and in the Kurgan, cars previously operating in Tyumen were decommissioned and cut.
