Ed II was probably the son of Count Troyes Ed I and Vandilmodis. Very little is known about him. Ed probably inherited the county of Troyes after the death of Earl Ed I or received it from the king. He also had possessions in Chateaudeaux , so some historians call him "Count of Chateaudeau." In 876, Ed ceded Troyes to his younger brother Robert I. In 877, Ed was named Earl of Tonner. The last time he was mentioned is October 27, 886.
