Balakovo trolley bus

The scheme of the first trolleybus line “1st microdistrict - chemical fiber combine” was approved in 1965 . The first trolley bus on this route passed on November 3, 1967. The regular movement began on November 18 . 25 trolley buses from Engels ZIU-5 plant went on the route. By the end of the year, two traction substations with a capacity of 3.6 thousand kilowatts, a trolleybus line with a length of 19 kilometers, a cable network of 9.5 kilometers and a terminal station BKHV were commissioned.

In 1968, the workshops of the transport department of the chemical fiber combine were converted into a depot for 15 trolleybuses.

Since June 30, 1969 , in connection with the transfer of the Privolzhsky territorial and transport management, the trolleybus shop received the status of an independent enterprise and became known as trolleybus management.

After the lock bridge was built, another route appeared in Balakovo: the Kosmos Cosmetic Combine. In connection with the growth of the population and industrial facilities of the city in 1972, the factory of rubber products began to build a depot for 100 trolleybuses, which was commissioned in 1985 .

In 1977, from September 19, trolleybuses introduced a coupon payment system . The coupons, which could be bought in advance both in the trolleybus and in the kiosks at the bus stops, were pushed through with a special punch . Thus, an attempt was made to switch to the so-called cashless method, in which travel documents could only be obtained outside of trolleybuses. However, this method of "healing" in the 90s was abandoned.

On December 22, 1982, the trolleybus route No. 3 was opened, which connected the city with the NPP construction site ^[1] .

On November 16, 1983, the trolleybus route No. 4 was opened: “8th microdistrict - BRT ”.

By 1985, the trolley fleet grew to 89 cars.

Due to the rapid development of the trolleybus network, in January 1993, a second depot for 50 cars at the other end of the city opened in Balakovo.

Since 1995, the company switched to conduction services for passengers, providing the city with 200 jobs. With this system, the amount of income has increased significantly.

At its own expense, the company built a dispatching office in the 7th microdistrict, thereby ensuring two-way control over the movement of trolleybuses.

In 2000, a new trolleybus line was commissioned - to a new railway station.

In 2004 , due to financial problems, MUP “BET” closed depot No. 2.

In 2009, the trolleybus fleet was renewed by 25%: 15 new trolleybuses were already released on the line.
