2006 In the spring of 2006, the municipal transport enterprises were corporatized, as a result of which the Municipal Unitary Enterprise “TTU” was transformed into Astrakhanelektropassazhirtrans LLC (at the same time, PATP No. 4 on Energeticheskaya Street was transformed into Astrakhanpassassazhirtrans OJSC). The new company purchased on lease 8 trolleybuses of the VZTM-5284 series and 4 VZTM-5280, sold in Tula in 2008. In the summer of that year, in connection with the gradual elimination of the tram traffic, the city administration voiced various utopian plans for the further development of the trolleybus system.

From May 24, 2007, the trolleybus fleet switched to servicing bus routes No. 4T and 3T (from July 25, 2007), opened in connection with the liquidation of the last two tram routes. These routes were served by buses of the PAZ-32052 series; route stencils were made in the same style with trolleybus routes. Since 2009, the servicing of these routes was transferred to Astrakhan Passenger Transport, which served them until its bankruptcy in 2016.
2008 year
- In the same year, as a result of the bankruptcy of Astrakhanelektropassazhirtransa, the trolleybus returned to the direct municipal subordination. Official black-and-white route diagrams first appear in trolleybuses.
From November 2008 to November 2009, the trolleybus route No. 3 was interrupted; since November 2009, he was appointed as a seasonal one. To compensate for the cancellation of the route, ATP MU introduced special routes without a number for transporting passengers on the New Bridge (on a driver’s glass, a sheet of A4 paper with the inscription “Beach” was put on the number 2 or 4); while there was no traffic on the Tsarev River - Astrakhan Airport section, the passenger bus No. 18 was temporarily extended. The schedule of these flights was posted on each of the trolleybuses.
2010 year
- Starting from April 1, summer route (which worked as such until the summer of 2017) No. 1A Stadium - Airport was opened on summer seasons and on holidays.
- The decision of October 14, 2010 approved a plan for reforming the route network of urban transport, where specific plans for the construction of a trolleybus line along Kakhovsky Street, Sofia Perovskaya to the Ring "International Warriors Boulevard" were officially approved. According to the line planned for the construction, it was supposed to launch route No. 5, designed to replace the minibus No. 28c.
2011
- Route No. 4 “Central Stadium - Boulevard of Warriors-Internationalists” was canceled (due to unprofitability).
year 2013
- For the first time it became known about the plans of the city authorities to close the trolleybus movement in Astrakhan [2] .
June 2016
- Route No. 1A has been transformed, now it has become route No. 1 and follows to the Airport.
- The colors on the stencils were eliminated, one-color white plates began to be installed indicating the route and stops.
2017, August 11th August, the release of the line was 4 trolleybuses. The company is on the verge of complete liquidation. From August 15, the trolleybus system will probably cease to exist, and will go down in history as the tram left (July 25, 2007). There will no longer be electric vehicles in the city.
2017, August 17 Routes 1 and 1a are almost eliminated (trolleybus service will only be in the morning and evening). For the rest of the time, the city will have the only route No. 2. To overcome the crisis, the company plans to increase the fare from 10 to 15 rubles (this is the only way out of the crisis of the enterprise).
2017, October 30 The last day of trolleybus operation.
2017, November 1, Astrakhan City Hall officially announced the closure of the trolleybus system. The trolleybus has served the townspeople 50 years since its opening on November 5, 1967. Now the city has completely lost electric urban transport [3] . Shortly before the closure of trolleybus traffic, entries were made in the official register of NOT routes of Astrakhan that legitimized the possible replacement of trolleybus routes No. 1 and 2 with bus No. 1A and 2A, however, due to the absence of carrier companies wishing to participate in the transportation auction, the project replacing trolley buses with buses remained unrealized. Also in September 2017, proposals to launch electric buses along trolleybus routes were considered [4] . Within a few months after the traffic was closed, pickets and rallies in defense of electric vehicles were held in the city [5] .
2018 On June 14, the dismantling of trolleybus lines began. In the beginning, plots from Planet Park to Southeast-3, one of the sides along Zvezdnaya Street, were removed, and by August 15 the line on the New Bridge was also removed. In the fall of 2018, the dismantling of the line on Nikolay Ostrovsky Street, and partly the central section (on Admiralteyskaya and Sverdlova Streets) was completed.
Route History
In total, over the entire period of the system’s existence, 5 routes were operated, as well as special flights without a route number from the southeastern part of the system in the direction of the New Bridge.
From 1967 to 2006, small rectangular plates with the route number (or the “To Park” flight indication) fastened in the driver's cab and on the hinged brackets at the back, as well as large routing stencils on hinged brackets on the starboard side of the trolley bus, were used as routing stencils. It is noteworthy that most of the side boards (except route No. 2 and part of the stencils of route No. 1) (until 2007) contained only information about the final points of the route. Since the arrival of the VZTM-5284 and LIAZ-5280 trolleybuses in 2006-2009, these stencils began to be replaced by new design plates on which the number of each route (except for 1a and special flights without a route number) received its color background: first, stencils of a new type appeared on new trolleybuses, and by 2010 the old routing boards on trolleybuses of the ZiU-682 family were completely out of use.
