Wood-rats [1] [2] [3] , or lictus [3] ( lat. Lyctidae ), is a family of small beetles of the suborder of various orders ( Polyphaga ). Some researchers classify woodworms as a subfamily ( Lyctinae ) of the hood family.

Description
In these beetles, the body is oblong, flattened from above, tarsi 5-segmented with a reduced first segment; antennae with a 2-segmented mace; legless larvae , white in color. By structure, adult beetles and larvae are close to false beetles . Wood rodents develop in dry wood , which beetles and larvae feed on.
Distribution
Wood rodents are distributed practically throughout the Earth with the exception of the polar regions. More than 100 species are known.
Woodworms and humans
They damage wooden buildings, poles, furniture and other wooden products.
