Biloxi [1] ( born Biloxi ) is a city in Harrison County, Mississippi , USA . It is located on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico and forms a single coastal agglomeration with the cities of Gulfport and Pascagula . The city is a port and an important tourist and recreational center of the state. The city hosts a casino ( Grand Casino and others).

History
The city was founded by the French in 1699 . In 1719 , during the Fourth Alliance War , Louisiana Governor Benville moved the administrative center of French Louisiana from Mobile from the battle line to Fort Biloxi. In June 1722, the capital was transferred to New Orleans and Biloxi lost its status.
For some time the city was the capital of West Florida . At the beginning of the XIX century came under the jurisdiction of the United States.
Population
According to the 2000 census, the racial makeup of the city was this: 71.43% White, 19.04% African American, 0.49% Native American, 5.11% Asian, 0.11% Pacific Islander, 1.43% from other races. and 2.38% from two or more races. 3.65% of the population are Hispanic or Latino.
