Old Chinese
- Erya尔雅 “Approaching the Classics” (III — II century BC) [1]
- Fan yan Мест “Local words” (the first dialect vocabulary). Western Han (西漢) (206–9 BC), the alleged author is Yang Xiong (楊雄, 53 BC. AD - 18 AD). More than 9000 hieroglyphs. Full name 《輶 軒 使者 絕代 語 釋 別 國 方言》 [2]
- 说文解字 ( Xu Shen , Din. Han) [3] [4] . The dictionary isolates from the mass of hieroglyphs 540 support components of bushow部首 (keys / radicals) and describes six ways of interpreting hieroglyphs. According to the author, Shoven considers the value of 9,353 hieroglyphs, as well as 1,163 graphic versions of their writing.
Later Imperial Dictionaries
- 字 彙 / 字 汇 (by Mei Yingzo о 膺 祚), 1615 - simplifies Xu Shen’s system to 214 keys and contains 33,179 hieroglyphs. A supplement to Zihui, Zhengzitong正字 通, is issued in 1627. Based on it

Compiled by a team of sinologists under the guidance and editorship of prof. I.M. Oshanina. NAUKA Publishing House, Main Editorial Office of Oriental Literature, Moscow 1983-1984. Russian modern
After the collapse of the USSR, fundamental publications were not undertaken. Only insignificant dictionaries of insignificant volume were published.
