Origin and History

Maltese, probably the descendants of the Phoenicians , who colonized Malta in antiquity. Then, over the centuries, they fell under the power of the Carthaginians , Romans , Byzantines (395–870), Arabs (870–1201), and Normans (from 1201 attached to Sicily).
