Saratov Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots

The Saratov Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots (Saratov VVAUL) is a flight school in the city of Saratov .

It existed from 1969 to 1991 and specialized in training pilots for Army Aviation .

Flight training of cadets of the school was conducted in three training helicopter regiments, based on airfields :

  • Falcon of the Saratov region (still exists today as part of the Syzran VAI );
  • Ozinki, Saratov region (disbanded);
  • Serdobsk of the Penza region (disbanded).

In June 2012, Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov announced the possible restoration of the Saratov Helicopter School; a site is being selected for this institution [1] .

History

  • On December 31, 1969, by order of the USSR Ministry of Defense No. 0029, the Saratov Military Aviation Pilot School was established.
  • On February 15, 1970 , the school included the 131st UVP and the 297th OBATO.
  • On February 6, 1971 , the school was replenished with Ozinsky units: the 437th UVP and 744th OBATO transferred from the Syzran VAUL.
  • On June 12, 1971 , the Pilot School was transformed into the Saratov Military Aviation School of Pilots.
  • In September 1971 , the Serdobsky units were assigned to the school: the 95th UVP and the 751th OBATO transferred from the Krasnodar school.
  • 1972 - the first release of the ensign pilots
  • 1973 - first graduation of pilot officers
  • On August 25, 1977 , the school was transformed into the Saratov Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots.
  • 1978 - first graduation of pilots with higher education
  • 1991 - the school was disbanded, cadets were transferred to the Ufa VVAUL .

Over the years the school has existed, more than seven thousand people have studied there.

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Saratov VVAUL, a group of enthusiasts issued the Commemorative Public Medal “Saratov VVAUL” , and on July 30, 2009, the decision No. 41 of the Chairman of the Commission on Public Medals and Commemorative Tokens approved the establishment of the commemorative public medal “Saratov VVAUL”. In 2012, a decision was made to restore the Saratov Flight School. At the moment, its formation is just beginning.
